I've had a diverse career - across print, web and software - I've honed my craft at top tier companies, lead small design teams and taught design methods at the state's foremost university. As a result, I bring a robust blend of practical and theoretical knowledge to the task. And as a consultant, I've accumulated a wealth of insight into how industry leading companies employ design as their competitive advantage.

Here are some of the ways I can help you...

Branding

An often-overlooked aspect of the user experience, a company's brand is its most valuable asset. A good logo and and brand identity package not only differentiates, it personifies and, in so doing, it enhances both memorability and trust.

UI Design

User Interface UI Design requires a detailed understanding of how to make software usable, accessible and delightful. Find out how this involves an understanding of cognitive science, visual perception theory and best practices.

UX Design

User Experience UX CX Design is sometimes conflated with UI Design, but in truth the two employ very different methods toward the similar goal of making systems easier to use. UX Design involves more mapping of business processes, data sources and accumulating user-input during the decision making process.

Common duties

As a Design consultant, these are some of the most common deliverables I'm asked to create, or methods I'm tasked with conducting. This list is not comprehensive and I've intentionally left research methods off to avoid it growing unwieldy. I've also highlighted some of my specialities in bold.

  • Co-design workshops
  • Content Strategy CS
  • Design ideation sessions
  • Design sprint planning
  • Design System establishment
  • Heuristic analysis
  • Information Architecture IA
  • Kick-off workshops
  • Mock-ups (high-fidelity prototypes)
  • Personas and user stories
  • Progress reporting docs/scrums
  • Project timelines and budgets
  • RFP/RFQ slides
  • Research analysis reports
  • Showcase presentations
  • Sketches (low-fidelity prototypes)
  • Stakeholder workshops
  • Usability evaluations
  • User journey maps
  • User research facilitation
  • and of course... Wireframes

“And it has become a kind of a truism in the study of creativity that you can't be creating anything with less than 10 years of technical knowledge immersion in a particular field.”

Non-profit work

I'm a big proponent of Design-for-good, and I understand that Non-profits often don't have the budgets larger companies do. I'm happy to support non-profit organisations pro-bono, if you can accommodate me working around my day job. I talk more about my non-profit and volunteer work at nikashsingh.org

No go?

I've helped businesses with a range of design needs over the years. Things like custom illustrations, desktop publishing (print), iconography, packaging, signage, webdesign and more. Feel free to reach out with any custom request.
